Tech Tip: Dynamic Input in Plant 3D

One AutoCAD feature that is normally turned off in Plant 3D is dynamic input. When dynamic input is active, tooltips display information near the cursor that is dynamically updated as the cursor moves. When a command is active, the tooltips allow for user input.

To toggle dynamic input, click the appropriate button in the drafting settings:

With dynamic input enabled when you click the "change elevation" grip on a pipe run the BOP (bottom of pipe), COP (center of pipe), and TOP (top of pipe) will display as a tool tip. Press the TAB key to cycle between them and type in a value to change the pipe elevation.

Innovation & Semantic Search

In order to innovate - develop new products, improve existing products and find new markets - you need access to internal and external knowledge to help you solve problems and make decisions.

Most companies use Intranets or shared drives to allow access to knowledge that has already been gathered. Despite this fact, market research studies indicate that up to 80% of research time is spent doing work that has already been done.

If you're relying on traditional search like Google, you know that those search engines look for keywords, but don't understand queries or the meaning of the content they're filtering for you.

Semantic Search is about understanding searcher intent and the contextual meaning of terms as they appear in the search results, whether on the Web or within a closed system, to generate the most relevant results.

To get the full story behind Semantic Search or to find out more, contact us at D3.

D3 Moving Away from Constant Contact

In the past, D3 has used Constant Contact to send newsletters, upcoming events emails, and other notifications. However, due to Constant Contact's policies that inhibit our abilities to get vital information to our customers, we have decided to move to another email vendor that provides us the professional service and flexibility we need. You will still get the same types of emails from D3 that you always have, but look for new designs and different formatting. As we're making this transition, give us feedback on what works and what doesn't so we're able to better serve you. As for a reference for Constant Contact; they have great marketing of their own, but obviously we're less than satisfied with the results we had.

D3 Springfield Looking to Relocate Office

D3's current building in Springfield will soon be up for sale or lease. The sole reason for this is to relocate to the south part of Springfield or possibly even Nixa.

When we decided to build at our current location we felt that being near the airport and in an industrial area would be ideal for us. With the terminal change (and ticket prices remaining high), the Branson airport opening, along with the dynamics of the business evolving, we feel the Headquarters can be located virtually anywhere in the Springfield metropolitan region.

Wherever the new Springfield D3 office may end up, we are committed to making sure it is a facility that exceeds our needs and is at the same professional level (or greater) that our current building is.
