Custom Powder Systems

Custom Powder Systems is a fully integrated custom design and build manufacturer located in Springfield, MO. CPS is a leading provider of systems to blend, transport, contain, and process dry materials for pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, food, nutrition supplement, and industrial manufacturing industries. Because of the wide range of work that CPS does, they needed a solution for their workflow that could keep up with their projects.

International Projects

Even though CPS is located in the Midwest, their work doesn’t stay in the middle of the US. One recent project was for a new pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Taiwan. The project included designing, fabricating, automating and testing processing equipment including lifts, blenders, bins, vacuum transfer and discharge systems, IBC to drum transfers, a tray dump and wash stands. CPS was able to complete the entire project in eight months.

Using the Right Tools

Tight deadlines and projects that cross boarders or even continents are significant hurdles for any company. To overcome these hurdles, CPS uses the latest technology, including Autodesk Inventor, NastranAutoCAD Mechanical and AutoCAD Electrical.

Automation is Key

One way CPS gained an advantage over its competition: automating some of their processes.

“Automating processes is key to staying competitive,” says Denise McIntosh, CEO of Custom Powder Systems, “and D3 has assisted us in that endeavor.” Recently adding custom designed software to CPS’ engineering function saved them time and increases their accuracy in moving drawings to purchasing, materials management, and fabrication.

Looking Ahead

McIntosh says: “we are currently evaluating custom software to speed our quoting function.” CPS is just one of many manufacturing companies that have discovered the power of automation. From speeding the time to market for products to automating sales quotes, automation can benefit companies in almost any industry.
