Established in 1969, Mid-South Engineering Company has since grown steadily in knowledge and experience serving clients in many different industries across the world working primarily in the wood products and bio-energy industries. With offices in both Arkansas and North Carolina, Mid-South Engineering has completed over 3,270 projects in 42 different states and 19 different countries. Mid-South Engineering maintains a staff of full-time engineers of multiple disciplines who serve as integral members of each project team to provide synergy and continuity throughout the duration of the project. They truly are a complete engineering service provider focused on total dedication to the client.
With Growth Comes Growing Pains
Mid-South Engineering has doubled in size over the past 5 years to a total of 140 employees. The reason for their growth was primarily due to the bio-energy push that has been going on in the US and Europe. Since the inception of the company 43 years ago, their primary area of business had been in the lumber and engineered wood products industries, so when the push for bio-energy became more widespread, they were a great fit for the field. However, with rapid growth and a new set of clients comes new challenges. Up until now, they have mainly executed their projects using 2D drawings, but today, they have made the switch to 3D by adding programs such as Autodesk MEP, Civil 3D, and Inventor.
“With so many tools in the Autodesk arsenal, it is difficult to know exactly which software is the best fit for you,” says Brock Laster, Design & Drafting Department Manager. “Having a reseller that knows your company and what you do helps tremendously.” D3 Technologies has worked inside Mid-South Engineering’s Little Rock office on projects proving design work, conducting Inventor training classes, and has helped with software development.
Although others in the industry are downsizing, Mid-South Engineering continues to grow. The company is currently in the process of opening its 3rd office in the Northeast part of the country.
